St. Lucia Honeymoon Guide: Best Time to Go and Where to Stay
Updated: 2 days ago
By Lisa Otts, Co-Owner and Milestone Travel Specialist at 2 Getaway Travel
A St. Lucia honeymoon is worth the longer trip if you want views you can't get anywhere else: the twin Pitons, rainforest running down to the water, and resorts built into the hillsides. Go between December and April for the driest weather, plan for a long, winding drive from the airport, and pick your resort based on how much you want to spend and how many stairs you're willing to climb.
I just got back from Secrets St. Lucia, and our team has now visited four of the island's best-known resorts in person. This guide is what I tell every honeymoon couple who calls us about St. Lucia: the good, the hard parts, and how to choose.
We'll match you with the right resort and room for your dates.
Is St. Lucia Good for a Honeymoon?
Yes, if scenery and privacy matter more to you than a quick, easy trip. St. Lucia feels wilder and more romantic than most of the Caribbean. The trade-off is getting there: most U.S. flights land at Hewanorra International Airport (UVF) on the island's south end, and many resorts are an hour or more away by car on winding mountain roads.
Couples who love it tend to want one of three things: a room with a Piton view, a quiet adults-only resort, or a bucket-list splurge like Jade Mountain. Couples who want a short flight and a long, flat beach are usually happier in Cancun and the Riviera Maya.

Best Time to Go to St. Lucia
The best time to go to St. Lucia for a honeymoon is December through April. That's the dry season, with warm days and the least rain; March and April tend to have the lowest humidity. June through November is the rainy season and overlaps hurricane season, with September and October usually the wettest months.
St. Lucia in December: beautiful weather and holiday energy, but it's the most expensive time to go. Book early, especially for the week between Christmas and New Year's.
January to April: our favorite window for honeymoons. Reliable weather and a little more availability after the holidays.
May to November: lower prices and fewer crowds. If your wedding falls in summer or fall, we'll make sure you have travel insurance and a resort that's still great on a rainy afternoon.
Which Resort Fits Your St. Lucia Honeymoon?
Our team visited all four of these resorts ourselves and ranked them from best value to ultimate splurge. Prices are the starting weekly rates we saw when we filmed our comparison [confirm current rates before publishing].
Resort | Best for | Starting price we saw |
Best value, boutique feel | Starts at $2,534 a week
All-inclusive with big hillside views | Starts at $4,583 a week
A beach right between the Pitons | Starts at $10,200 a week
Once-in-a-lifetime splurge | Starts at $12,000 a week |

Secrets St. Lucia: Big Views, Lots of Stairs
Here's my honest take after staying there. Secrets St. Lucia is built into the hillside, so almost everywhere you look you see the ocean and the mountains. When Randy asked me what stood out most, it was easy: "Honestly, the views. It's the kind of place where you'll actually want to spend time on your balcony just relaxing and taking it all in."
For a honeymoon, I'd book the Preferred Club for the best views, private areas and exclusive dining (including the best avocado toast I've had in a while), and don't skip the outdoor hydrotherapy spa. Just know the drive from the airport is over an hour of winding road and there are lots of stairs, so it's not my pick if mobility is a concern or you're planning a babymoon.

Jade Mountain: The Bucket-List Honeymoon
Jade Mountain is the resort couples dream about. Twenty-eight of its 29 sanctuaries have only three walls, so your room opens straight onto the Pitons, and every one has its own private infinity pool. You also get Anse Chastanet's beach, restaurants and water sports below: "It's almost like getting two resorts in one."
The one thing to know: those 28 open-air sanctuaries have no air conditioning. The breeze keeps them comfortable, but if you need AC to sleep, tell us and we'll try for the one sanctuary that has it. It's the priciest resort on this list, and for a lot of couples it's worth every penny.
It's also the resort people save up for. One traveler wrote to us recently: "25th wedding anniversary; we would like to stay at Jade Mountain, preferably Moon Sanctuary." If that's you, we'll help you compare sanctuary levels and time your stay for the best value.

Zoetry Marigot Bay: The Best Value in St. Lucia
Zoetry Marigot Bay is the best value in St. Lucia. It sits on Marigot Bay, one of the most photographed bays in the Caribbean, and feels like a luxury marina village, with suites starting at over 900 square feet. The food was better than at some bigger luxury resorts, especially the rum cave dinners: "We learned so much about rum that I never even cared about before."
Its beach is across the bay, a quick on-demand boat ride away, and that didn't seem to bother anyone. Zoetry is best for couples and food lovers who care more about atmosphere than a giant beach outside their room.

Sugar Beach: Luxury Right Between the Pitons
Sugar Beach sits directly between the Pitons on one of the island's best beaches, with gentle water, so you get luxury service and real beach time.
Can't Decide? Split Your Stay
My answer to the hardest question, Sugar Beach or Jade Mountain: do both. Start at Sugar Beach for sun and beach time, then finish at Jade Mountain. "So you get the best of both worlds." If that's not in the budget, Secrets and Zoetry are both great picks.
Getting There: What the St. Lucia Airport Is Really Like
Most flights from the U.S. land at Hewanorra (UVF), near Vieux Fort on the south end of the island. The smaller George F.L. Charles Airport (SLU) near Castries mainly handles flights between islands. Transfers from Hewanorra can take up to about an hour and a half depending on your resort, much of it on narrow, curvy roads.
Three tips I give every couple:
Book a private transfer ahead of time. After a long travel day, you don't want to share a van with five stops.
If you get carsick, take something before the drive, not halfway through it.
Try not to land late in the day. The views on that drive are part of the trip.
Why Plan Your St. Lucia Honeymoon With Us
St. Lucia is where the details matter most: which resort, which room, which side of the island, and which transfer. We've been there, so we can tell you exactly what you're getting before you pay for it. It costs you nothing extra to book with us, and if a flight changes or something goes wrong, you call us instead of a call center.
We've planned trips like an anniversary getaway, a honeymoon, and even a group of friends celebrating turning 60 together on St. Lucia. Yours is next.
