Getting to Los Cabos: Your Airport Guide
Nearly every Los Cabos trip starts at Los Cabos International Airport (SJD), located in San José del Cabo. Here's what to expect the moment you land:
Terminal: SJD is one of Mexico's busiest airports, but it doesn't feel like it, modern, clean, and easy to navigate. If you arrive by jetway, you'll walk into an air-conditioned terminal instead of crossing the tarmac. Just note the walk to immigration runs longer than expected, so plan for it if you've got kids or lots of bags.
Immigration & customs: You'll get a paper customs form on the plane (one per family, not per person). Have your passport, return ticket, and resort address handy. Our line took about 10 minutes, and bags were already out by the time we hit baggage claim. Then it's the "red button" system: green light, you're through; red light, a random bag check.
Getting to your resort: Private transfers, shared shuttles, and rental cars are all available curbside. Cabo San Lucas resorts run 45 to 60 minutes; San José del Cabo resorts are just 10 to 20 minutes.
Pro tip: After customs you'll hit the "Shark Tank," vacation club reps and timeshare pitches angling for your attention. If your transportation's booked, just keep walking to the exit. You'll be outside in a couple minutes with your driver holding a sign.
